SUCCESSFUL UPTAKE OF IFX IN EUROPE AND THE AMERICAS SENDS IFX FORUM LEADERS ON OUTREACH TO ASIA
Speaking Engagements Scheduled in TaiwanFALLS CHURCH, Va. – Nov. 8, 2005 – The Interactive Financial eXchange (IFX) Forum today announced its plans for members of the group's Steering Committee to visit Taiwan later this month, to brief the financial services community there on the value of the IFX standard for electronic exchange of financial transaction data, its current status, and progress on development of new versions. The meeting is being hosted and facilitated by the Bankers Association of Republic of China, a member of the IFX Forum since 2001.
The IFX Forum is a not-for-profit standards-developing organization working to develop a robust framework for the electronic business-to-business exchange of data among financial service institutions around the world. The IFX specification has been implemented by leading organizations in Europe and the Americas, and interest from Asian institutions is strong.
"As IFX approaches mainstream status in Europe and North America, and consistent with our international scope, we determined that active outreach would be the best way to alert Asian financial institutions to the standard's transformative potential, and ensure compatibility among geographies going forward," said Richard P. Urban, President of the IFX Forum. "We are grateful to our sponsors for helping to underwrite the endeavor, and we look forward to future interactions with our Asian counterparts, both in IFX implementations and in Forum participation."
Travelers include Urban; Susan Colles, Bank of America; Lee Hou, Fidelity Information Systems; and Mark Tiggas, Wells Fargo Company. They will provide detailed reports to IFX Forum members on the results of their discussions upon their return.
In Taiwan, Forum members will speak at the IFX for Banking in Taiwan Conference, a private event organized by the Bankers Association of the Republic of China. The Forum representatives are also expecting to meet with individual institutions in Taiwan to explore the needs and interests of the financial services industry in Asia in greater detail.
About the IFX Forum Membership in the IFX Forum is open to anyone interested in contributing to the development of open financial standards that harness the power of XML.
