"Virtual Face-to-Face" IFX Forum
Working Meeting Starts July 14
IFXglobeIn years past, the IFX Forum held quarterly face-to-face meetings in addition to the regular weekly and monthly teleconferences individual working groups conduct.  The face-to-face venues allow work groups to confer with each other, share progress and perspective, review each others' content and tie up loose ends with the Architecture Committee in order to finalize content for the next release of the standard.

For the past two years or so we have changed our practice to substitute a series of conference calls for two of those meetings in order to respect restricted travel budgets of our members.  Our next "virtual face-to-face" kicks off July 14 at 10 AM EDT with a discussion of Payments, and continues for a few hours each day the following Monday through Thursday.  Visit our website to see the detailed agenda.  IFX Forum members will receive dial-in and webconferencing information via email.
Check Out Our Updated Website
We've just updated much of the content of the IFX Forum website, and we hope you will have a look. The new material describes the value and use of IFX in the ATM/POS sector, Branch Banking, Business/Corporate Banking, Card Services & Management, and Electronic Bill Payment and Presentment.  And, we've included the current activities and plans of the Working Groups that cover these areas.

If you would like to get involved in developing enhancements and additions to IFX, come join a Working Group - just get in touch with a WG Chair, or write to info@ifxforum.org.
New Proposals Approved by Architecture in Preparation for
IFX v2.1 Release
Since the initial IFX Version 2.0 Release Candidate, the Forum's Architecture Committee has assessed a significant amount of input and proposals from the member community and working groups in preparation for the next release.  The Forum's Architecture Committee has approved more than 30 proposals for inclusion in the next release of IFX and is in the final stages of reviewing about a dozen more.

IFX Version 2.1 is currently anticipated to reach the final approval milestones in July.
2010 Elections & Annual Meeting
At the 2010 Annual Meeting, hosted by CSC in April near Dallas, Texas, IFX Forum members re-elected Victor Dossey, Microsoft Corporation, and Ewan McGuire, NCR, to the Forum's Board of Directors for terms expiring in 2013.  In addition, Richard Feight of Citigroup was elected to fill an open three-year seat, and Murray Heldon of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was elected to a one-year term.

The new Board then re-appointed President Richard P. Urban and re-elected Chairman Richard DuVall of ACI Worldwide, Treasurer Lee Hou of FIS, and Secretary Mark Tiggas of Wells Fargo.

A highlight of this year's Annual Meeting was a well-attended three-hour "Introduction to IFX" tutorial session presented by Rich Urban on the event's first day, which focused on the new features of IFX Version 2.  Videos of the session will soon be posted on the Forum's website, and the presentation itself may be downloaded from our home page

The Texas event featured intense hands-on collaborative sessions for the Forum's active Working Groups, and additional days were devoted to IFX architectural considerations.  The Steering Committee also met to discuss and advance the Forum's business plans, including extended discussion with representatives from BIAN (Banking Industry Architecture Network) about how best to collaborate going forward, considering the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between IFX and BIAN.
